We are looking for students to play a key role as the Project Assistant. The student will work closely with the Membership and Programs team to assist in planning, implementation and execution of First Work’s initiatives. This role will involve supporting program delivery, enhancing communications, and contributing to the efficiently to the operations. 


Key Responsibilities 


1. Program Support 

  • Support in the planning and execution of program activities in alignment with project timelines and deadlines. 
  • Contribute to development and implementation of data collection and analysis to evaluate effectiveness and inform decision-making. 
  • Undertaking project tasks and providing administrative support as required. 


2. Operations Assistance 

  • Help in coordinating logistics for events, workshops, or meetings, including venue research, preparing materials, and community outreach. 
  • Maintain program documentation, ensuring records are accurate and up to date. 
  • Assist in budget management and research required program resources. 


3. Communications Support 

  • Contribute to internal and external communications, including drafting emails, newsletters, and social media content related to the program. 
  • Lead and facilitate meetings where appropriate and distribute minutes to all project team members.  
  • Respond to inquiries from stakeholders, ensuring clear and professional communication. 


4. Team Collaboration 

  • Work collaboratively with First Work team, providing administrative support as needed. 
  • Participate in team meetings, sharing updates and insights on assigned tasks. 
  • Engage with stakeholders and participants to gather feedback on program initiatives.  
Deliverables

The students are expected to learn the following: 

  • Project Management Skills: The student will gain experience in coordinating and executing program tasks and activities within the delivery timeline. Learn how to create and manage project documentation including plans and reports. Acquire insights into the end-to-end process of delivering impactful programs in a professional setting. Build familiarity with tools and systems commonly used, including Microsoft Office, Canva, and SurveyMonkey. 
  • Operational Competencies: The student will understand the logistical and administrative aspects of program delivery, including event and meeting coordination, budget management, and documentation. Enhance organizational and time-management skills by managing multiple tasks and priorities.  
  • Communication Abilities: The student will improve their written and verbal communication skills through writing professional emails, meeting facilitation, and drafting promotional content tailored to a diverse network. 
  • Build Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: The student will develop teamwork and collaboration skills by working closely with the First Work staff, and interacting with program participants, and external stakeholders. Through the various groups, strengthening networking abilities. Adapt to dynamic workflows and contribute proactively to team goals.
