CityLayer Urban Planning Module Enhancement

Project: Human City is seeking a team of learners to enhance its CityLayer software, aiming to transform it into a comprehensive urban planning tool. The current software provides basic functionalities, but the goal is to expand its capabilities to support a wider range of urban planning tasks. This project involves integrating new features that allow for detailed zoning analysis, infrastructure planning, and environmental impact assessments. The learners will apply their knowledge of software development and urban planning principles to create a user-friendly interface that meets the needs of urban planners. The project will focus on improving data visualization and user interaction to facilitate better decision-making processes. By the end of the project, CityLayer should be a robust tool that urban planners can rely on for efficient and effective planning.

Security & Penetration Testing of Web Application

A standard practice for web based tools is to conduct what is known as penetration tests at least once a year. This is a white-hat hacking approach in which a firm is given special permission to try and break into, exploit, or otherwise attempt to break a given product via security vulnerabilities. First, we would like students to get familiar with our product. Sign up, play around with it, understand generally how it works. Second, students should spend time conducting research on state of the art pen testing technologies. They should look into common vulnerability lists such as OWASP Top 10, and common security tools such as Nmap, Burp Suitar, Nessus, and Wireshark. Third, students should have a written attack plan and present it to us so we can confirm we understand what the test will do and what might be uncovered. Fourth, students are free to attack our product as per the presented plan

Simply Stunning
February 2025 - February 2025
https://dorahacks.io/buidl/22852

Issue we chose to address
We chose to focus on the Adolescence Stage among the 4 Stages of Life. With social media being such an integral part of adolescent life, unrealistic body standards have become the norm. With this an increase in dissatisfaction with body images has followed, which leads to unhealthy bodies and mindsets among many adolescents who feel they need to reach those standards.

Our Solution
Simply Stunning aims to assist adolescents in creating and maintaining a positive body image of themselves - to feel stunning on both the inside and outside -, by providing positive advice, backed with healthy activities and encouragement. We also provide a collection of helpful resources to further work on your body image. This is especially useful with the difficulty of finding proper resources through the internet.

How It Works
For the frontend, we used HTML/CSS and JavaScript, to create the website, and Adobe to create our designs.
For the backend, we used Flask (Python) with Gemini AI to create the friendly chat bot, Sana.
For the presentation, we used Canva.

Project Migra
January 2025 - January 2025
https://devpost.com/software/migra

Inspiration
We are inspired by the ongoing issues and stigmas that immigrants continuously face, and how difficult it is to leave one's own country just to thrive for a better and secure life.

What it does
Our project's aim is to make it easier and accessible for people to know about migration opportunities, all in one place in one app.

How we built it
We used Canva to initially design the app, then used React Native to implement.

Challenges we ran into
Planning what the app should include and implement React Native.

Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully planning the app and implementing some features using React Native.

What we learned
Overall, we learned how to plan for an app, and using React Native to create an mobile/web app.

What's next for Migra
Our next plan is to be able to fully implement it into a functioning app with a proper revenue model.

Percept
January 2025 - January 2025
https://dorahacks.io/buidl/21675

This project aimed to create an anonymous and randomized perspective-sharing platform, where a user can anonymously share their perspective and an anonymous response would be shared back from another random user.

For the frontend of Percept, we created a login, register, profile, mail, and map pages using Javascript, CSS, HTML, with React as a framework, and the importing Google Maps API. The map would display connections, using markers from the Google Map API, made by users throughout their time using the platform.

For the backend of Percept, we used Python with Flask and SQLite in Python to store and utilize user data for message filters.
