HR Policies for Not For Profit Organization

Our Not for Profit organization started with one employee and has grown to 3 with plans to add more. With more employees there is a greater need to have standardized human resource policies to support consistent implementation of recruitment, training & development, and employee benefits. The desired outcome of this project is the development of human resource policies required for a small not for profit, notably a paid time off policy, but may also include a recruitment and retention, training and employee development, and others areas identified through industry research.

SSRIA - Market Research

PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPTION DU PROJET: The Smart Sustainable Resilient Infrastructure Association (SSRIA) is a not-for-profit member based association. We are working to accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies and products that can reduce GHG emissions in buildings. We are a small organization with just two employees and a dedicated volunteer board of directors that represent large industry firms (Stantec and Ledcor), post-secondary institutions (SAIT), related not-for-profits, small businesses and individuals with diverse business expertise. The membership nature of our organization allows us to build and engage a network of industry representatives because our mission cannot be achieved without their involvement and leadership to change the way the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry typically design and build buildings. SSRIA is coming to the end of its second membership year and would like to analyze member satisfaction with the benefits they receive as a member and with SSRIA's overall missions and activities. This knowledge is integral to maintain our existing membership base as well as to continue to grow the network move our mission forward. The project will allow for the collection of this information through the design and development of a survey and the analysis of the resulting data to define a suite of member benefits and engagement activities to be offered in 2022. KEY PROJECT ACTIVITIES/TÂCHES ASSOCIÉES AU PROJET: To ensure this is a valuable learning experience, SSRIA would work collaboratively with the students and their instructor to develop a market research project that aligns with the curriculum of their program. The general project elements we have considered thus far include the following: Research similar membership organizations to identify additional potential member benefits Design and develop survey Distribute digital survey to all members and key stakeholders that are non-members Evaluate the benefit of delivering a more detailed interview type survey to a select group of members and stakeholders Collect and analyse data collected Deliver final report with recommendations based on data analysis IDEAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES/RÔLES/RESPONSABILITÉS:* Please note appropriate projects can accommodate most students, regardless of field of study or experience. We may not be able to fill these roles exactly. Veuillez noter que les projets appropriés peuvent accueillir la plupart des étudiants, quel que soit leur domaine d'études ou leur expérience. Nous ne pourrons peut-être pas remplir ces rôles exactement. Market research Data analysis FINAL PROJECT DELIVERABLES/LIVRABLES DU PROJET: Online Survey Database of collected data Final report and recommendations base on data analysis and supporting research

SSRIA Resource Hub - Data Analysis

PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPTION DU PROJET: The Smart Sustainable Resilient Infrastructure Association (SSRIA) is a not-for-profit member based association. We are working to accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies and products that can reduce GHG emissions in buildings. We will achieve this by providing support and growth opportunities in the form of demonstration project funding, business growth services, and the latest expertise in innovative low carbon building technologies, products, and practices. We also recognize the need both upskill and diversify the workforce in the architecture, engineering and construction industry to drive the transition to a zero carbon built environment. This project is directly related to the demonstration construction projects that we are funding and the wealth of data and information that will result from those projects. In order to initiate a transition to a low/zero carbon built environment, architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners/operators need access to this data and information so they can learn about viable and validated solutions that they can apply in their own work. This is a multi-faceted project that will result in a "resource hub" that will allow validated data and results of the demonstrated low-carbon innovative solutions to be accessed and shared. The data and information to be shared will be both quantitative and qualitative. The proposed project would involve inventorying and categorizing all the data and information to be shared, envisioning and creating a framework/organisational structure for storing the data, and identify any technical needs to implement the framework. The project type is listed as Education as it will be important to understand how people use and learn from data but would also benefit from some marketing or web design skills (organising and displaying information in a user friendly manner. KEY PROJECT ACTIVITIES/TÂCHES ASSOCIÉES AU PROJET: Research examples of similar resource hubs/data sets and best practices for organizing and displaying data and reports Inventory data types expected and interview project teams to better understand data and information to be shared if necessary Create data type categories, and information themes, Draft the organizational structure including meta tags if deemed applicable Research and identify additional technical needs (search or other web based plug-ins) Develop a report summarizing project activities so that it can seamlessly be implemented IDEAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES/RÔLES/RESPONSABILITÉS:* Market research Data analysis FINAL PROJECT DELIVERABLES/LIVRABLES DU PROJET: Excel database that includes data inventory, categories and themes, meta tags Final report including summary of all project activities and draft structure for "resource hub"
